RICK D. BURTENSHAW
Senior Vice President
Rick D. Burtenshaw is a Senior Vice President of Zions Bank and manager of the municipal securities portfolio. He has been managing the municipal securities portfolio for more than 20 years. Prior to that, Mr. Burtenshaw was a public ﬁnance investment banker with Zions Bank and at a regional municipal bond ﬁrm for 8 years. He is the former Executive Director of the Utah Housing Finance Agency, and was with the agency for approximately 7 years. He is a licensed attorney and a registered Municipal Securities Representative.
Rich Feist joined Zions Bank in 2001 and has worked exclusively as a credit analyst with the municipal securities portfolio. His primary focus involves reviewing and approving credits for municipal purchases from issuers throughout the United States. Prior to joining Zions Bank, Mr. Feist worked as a Fixed Income Analyst for a private asset management company in Minneapolis, Minnesota (Sit Investments), a Financial Analyst in the investment department for Minnesota Life Insurance Company, and as a Tax Accountant for Ernst and Young LLP.
Mr. Feist earned Masters of Accounting and Bachelors of Science in Accounting from Brigham Young University in 1995. Mr. Feist is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). Additionally, he is a registered Municipal Securities Representative.
Mr. Dunfield is currently assistant portfolio manager/analyst for the municipal securities portfolio. Mr. Dunfield is involved in all aspects of munipal bond analysis and portfolio management. He has worked in this capacity since late 2002 and has been working in the investment department of Zions Bank, including the sales and trading area, since 2001. Mr. Dunfield’s prior experience includes working for Sanford C. Bernstein Investment Research & Management in New York as a financial analyst.
Mr. Dunfield’s current position involves analyzing a variety of municipal investments for credit worthiness as well as participating in developing portfolio management criteria and ongoing credit monitoring processes. Some of his prior experience includes: sales and trading including public offerings, market making and client relationships; securities analysis, financial modeling, portfolio management, and securities trading.
Mr. Dunfield has a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Marketing from Utah State University in Logan, Utah and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mr. Dunfield is a registered Municipal Securities Representative.
Assistant Vice President
Mr. Smith joined Zions Bank in 2002. He serves cities, school districts, fire districts, counties, states and other local government entities throughout most of the United States, providing taxable and tax-exempt financing for public projects.
Mr. Smith is a graduate of the University of Utah in Economics, and French. Mr. Smith has over ten years of experience in municipal finance, financial analytics and not-for-profit lending.
